Reach For The Stars

This post is dedicated to one I love.

She's not a football fan but I hope she will bear with me.

She is the sweetest of girls, with a kind heart and hugely talented in many, many ways.

She sets herself high goals and has the courage to put herself out there and take risks sometimes.

Today has not been the best for her.

One of the goals she has been working towards has been thwarted.

It was always an ambitious one.

And just as she does in all other parts of her life she committed to it and put her heart and soul into into it.

So the sense of powerlessness, failure and humiliation she feels is all the more intense.

And as someone who always encourages her to follow her dreams and fulfil her potential I have to stop and reflect whether that was the right and responsible thing to do.

Should I have prepared her better for a potential fall?

But the answer to that question has to be that I still believe that people with enough courage will find a pathway to succeed in life.

Failure makes you stronger. It makes you draw on your inner strength. It helps you learn more about yourself and what you are capable of.

You don't have to look far for inspiration.

Remember, according to the declared policy of our potential new prime minster, this woman is not fit to teach.

And the British Army turned this man down because he had poor eyesight.

This man learned that if you knock on another door it might well open.

Reach for the stars girl!

And if that isn't sufficiently inspiring, remember;

"Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle

Don't grumble, give a whistle

And
this'll help things turn out for the best......"
