- Referees can only referee one FA Cup final in their career (today's referee being Steve Bennett)
- The new Wembley Stadium where today's match is being played cost upwards of £750,000,000, almost 4 times as much as Cardiff's Millenium Stadium
- It is the oldest football competition in the world
- Chelsea and Manchester United are playing for the fourth actual trophy (one was stolen, one given away and the other one is now to fragile to use)
- Around 400 million people worldwide will be watching today's match (just think if each of them paid a couple of quid the stadium would be paid for!)
- Manchester United is the team that has won the most times - 11 (which makes it Chelsea's turn today I think)
- The cup has not been won by a non-English team since 1927 (Cardiff City)
- Chelsea and Manchester United have only met once before in the final (1994)
- Until 1993 the final was replayed if the scores were drawn at the end of the match. Now an additional 30 mins extra time is played and if still level after that there is a penalty shootout
- Tottenham Hotspur are the only non- league team to win the cup (in 1901)

I really did think that "Pickles" found it once....but that turns out to be the Jules Rimet Cup. Strange how the memory plays tricks on you
